NTCCC DAY
ON THE HILL - OTTAWA, May 20, 2009
The
National Trade
Contractors Coalition of Canada (NTCCC) visits Parliament Hill
each year urging politicians to create
Prompt
Payment Legislation to alleviate some of the pressure from the
current economic situation affecting their businesses across
Canada.
The NTCCC has drafted wording which it intends to be included in the
Federal Government Contract regarding the issue of Prompt Payment. Changes to the contract would provide trade contractors with the tools to ensure that their
businesses can remain competitive and productive, and would also
encourage a culture of prompt payment that is presently absent and
is much needed.

The
National Trade Contractors Coalition of Canada (NTCCC) members
continue to meet regularly with MPP’s at the Ontario Legislative
Building in Queen’s park, Toronto, Ontario in support of local
industry. There are several proposed
changes to the Construction Lein Act, particularly with regards
to prompt payment which NTCCC will support. If successful, the NTCCC
will use the Ontario program as a template for other provincial
jurisdictions where changes may need to be implemented.
